Title: I'm not sure how I'm going to do this for the rest of my life.
How can the relationship between visuality and content be explored if the author is a graphic designer?
The intention of this project is to understand the relationship between designers and their own work, and to understand how best to create a product that is as authentic as possible. My research tries to zoom in on specific graphic design topics – the contemporary state of books, the pros and cons of digital media and, first and foremost, the position of the designer as author. The aim is to produce something that can help to show how designers can act in the role of an author and, in turn, to demonstrate the benefits of this approach to an audience, to society and to the designer’s work.
What are the benefits in terms of communication when the designer also becomes the author of the content of his work? ‘I'm not sure how…’ is therefore a project that starts with a technical analysis and leads to a more personal outcome, where visual elements and personal stories are mixed together to create a real example of the ‘author-designer process’. Using graphics, pictures, words and stories, this project tries to act as a catalyst and stimulate people by making them both more aware of what is around them and more sensitive to the value of the graphic form.
